Start Date: 9th December 2024 (Training at Neville Hill Depot)

Contract: 6-month initial contract with the opportunity to go permanent

Pay Rate: £12.73 p/h

We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join the Train Presentation team as a Train Cleaning Team Leader based at Leeds Station. This position allows you to play a pivotal role in maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of trains for one of the largest Train Operating Companies (TOCs) in the UK.

The company covers the North of England, including Yorkshire, the North East, and parts of the Midlands. With a fleet of 333 trains and over 464 stations, you’ll join a team that’s committed to ensuring high standards for passengers across their network.

The Role

As a Train Cleaning Team Leader, you’ll lead and manage a team of up to 10 cleaning operatives during day shifts. Your responsibilities will include:

-        Supervising your team to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.

-        Allocating cleaning duties, including turnaround cleaning (quick walk-through sanitisation) to ensure trains are ready for passenger use.

-        Conducting regular audits and quality checks, ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures.

-        Liaising with the Train Presentation Supervisor regarding team performance and operational issues.

-        Managing stock levels of cleaning supplies and ensuring equipment is well-maintained.

-        Leading by example with hands-on cleaning tasks such as hoovering, sanitising touchpoints, and inspecting/maintaining train interiors and toilets.

Working Hours:

You’ll follow a 2-week rotating shift roster:

Week 1: Friday to Monday on, Tuesday off, Wednesday and Thursday on.

Week 2: Friday to Monday off, Tuesday on, Wednesday and Thursday off.

Shift hours:

Monday – Saturday: 07:00 am– 17:00 pm

Sunday: 08:00 am – 18:00 pm

Requirements

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

-        Prior supervisory or team leader experience (does not need to be rail-based).

-        A hands-on approach with a positive, can-do attitude.The ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol test and a full rail medical (covering sight, hearing, and physical fitness).

-        Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, emails, etc.).

-        Eligibility to work in the UK and provide Right to Work documentation.

Pay rate and other benefits:

-£12.73 p/h for every hour worked.

-Opportunity to join on a permanent basis after the initial 6-month contract.

-Training will commence at Neville Hill Depot (Leeds) on the 9th of December. Full PPE will be provided.
