IN CONVERSATION WITH KARLA DELCZEG, RECRUITMENT SPECIALIST
Starting a new job in a different field can be daunting. However, as a Recruiter, there are many valuable transferable skills that appear on the path to success, no matter your background. We sat down with Karla Delczeg, our Recruitment Specialist based in our London office, as she delves into her first year in recruitment and at Ganymede Solutions.
What did you do in your last job?
Before becoming a Recruitment Specialist, I worked as a Gateline Assistant and Team Leader. I helped Station Managers with their daily tasks at busy stations in London. This background has greatly enhanced my comprehension and proficiency within the intricate realm of the railway industry.
How did you hear about Ganymede?
In 2023, a manager at Ganymede Solutions introduced me to this exciting opportunity. Motivated by his introduction, I enthusiastically accepted the challenge.
What was it about this opportunity that made you want to join the team?
I joined the team to improve my skills in strategic thinking, communication, and adapting to new work environments. I saw the opportunity to do so. Moreover, the dynamic nature of the railway industry aligns with my desire to continually apply and expand my knowledge.
Finding and attracting qualified candidates in competitive job markets is a stimulating challenge. The fast-paced setting with quick changes adds to this challenge. Also, the changing recruitment field and focus on diversity and inclusion match my professional values and goals.

How have you found your first 12 months?
In my first year in recruitment, I immersed myself in comprehensive training to understand the intricacies of the industry. I mastered essential aspects such as candidate sourcing, client engagement, and effective use of recruitment tools.
This journey made me learn new skills and made me stronger in facing challenges. I learned how to talk to job seekers, understand their goals, and work with employers to understand their hiring needs.
The culmination of these efforts resulted in a substantial accomplishment—billing nearly £60K in 2023. This success reflects the harmonious integration of acquired skills, resilience, and effective communication in navigating the dynamic recruitment landscape.
What is your favourite part of your job?
My role's most gratifying aspect lies in growing connections with clients and candidates. Nurturing trust and rapport over time fosters enduring professional relationships. Facilitating candidates in securing meaningful employment and aiding companies in finding the right talent is particularly rewarding.
Contributing to someone's career advancement or aiding a company in flourishing brings fulfilment and inspiration, propelling my commitment to continual improvement. Keeping up with industry trends, adopting new recruitment strategies and technologies is crucial for me to achieve excellence.
