Day Shift Train Cleaning Team Leader – Newcastle Central

Location: Newcastle Central, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Contract: Initial 6-month contract with Temp-to-Perm potential
Rate: £12.73 per hour

Ganymede Solutions is looking for a Train Cleaning Team Leader to join one of the UK’s top train operators in the North. This is a fantastic opportunity to secure an initial 6-month contract with the potential for a permanent position as the company expands its workforce.

The Role:

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on leader for the day shift cleaning team at Newcastle Central. As a Train Cleaning Team Leader, you'll play a vital role in ensuring high cleanliness standards while supervising a dedicated team. You'll lead by example, ensuring that passengers experience clean and comfortable trains.

-Leading and managing a team of cleaners to ensure all cleaning tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.

-Assigning tasks and coordinating shifts for team members. Ensuring team members adhere to cleaning schedules and meet quality standards.

-Conducting regular inspections of train interiors and exteriors to ensure cleanliness meets company and industry standards.

-Addressing any issues with cleanliness or missed tasks promptly.

You'll be working on a 4-week rolling rota, Sunday to Saturday, so flexibility is a must.

What We Offer:

  • Hourly Rate: £12.73 per hour
  • Contract Type: Initial 6-month contract with the potential to go permanent
  • Work Schedule: Day shifts with weekend work on a rotating 4-week roster (9:00 am – 7:00 pm)
  • Training Provided: Full training in depot protection, site safety, and cleaning solutions
  • Overtime Opportunities: Available based on management discretion

About You:

You’ll bring experience in vehicle, industrial, or house cleaning environments, and ideally, previous experience in a leadership role. You’ll need strong leadership and communication skills to guide your team and meet high cleanliness standards. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will ensure a clean and safe environment for passengers.

Key Requirements:

  • Leadership experience in a cleaning or similar environment
  • Keen eye for detail and commitment to quality
  • Flexibility to work weekends and follow a rotating roster
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol test
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
