Role Summary
This is an exciting time to join a busy rail company as a Production Manager.
As a Production Manager you will support the rolling stock arm of the business with train maintenance management, delivering the company’s obligations under the train maintenance agreement.
The role
- You will manage production schedules and all related people management across multiple shifts within the maintenance depot.
- You will act as a point of contact for the customer and work to ensure that the customer is supported and happy with the service received and aware of any improvements/changes that could be made to deliver optimal fleet performance & reliability.
- You will ensure that all work carried out on the fleet meets obligations and is carried out safely to the required standards.
- You will be ultimately responsible for the quality of the work carried out by the maintenance team and their safety in doing so.
- You will contribute to the training and development of the maintenance teams to maintain a highly efficient, motivated and safety conscious workforce.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Engineering background – minimum level 3 within any engineering discipline, additional management, HSEQ or rail qualifications / training or courses would be highly desirable
- Experience in the rail sector is desirable, however we welcome applicants from any heavy engineering, production or transportation industry especially candidates from automotive, marine/maritime, military, aviation or similar heavy maintenance backgrounds
- Ability to lead a team in a time pressured, safety critical environment
- Strong demonstrable workforce planning and scheduling experience
- Employment offers will be subject to rail standard medical and drugs & alcohol screening procedures
