Train Cleaning Operative

Day Shift Role

Based in Newton Heath Depot, Manchester

6 Month initial contract with the opportunity to join on a permanent basis

£12p/h

We are working with one of the largest UK Train Operating Companies (currently operating 464 stations, the most of any TOC in the UK), who are seeking to recruit a Train Cleaning Operative to join the train cleaning team based in Newton Heath Train Maintenance Depot.

They are looking for someone with a ‘go getter’ attitude who isn’t afraid to get stuck in and can lead a team by example.

The Role:

The role itself will cover all aspects of interior cleaning on the trains. You will be carrying out a deep clean on the interior of the train, which means you will be cleaning everything from the roof of the train to the bottom of the train. The duties you will be carrying out will be:

  • Wiping down surfaces
  • Sanitizing touch points
  • Hoovering
  • Mopping
  • Dusting
  • Cleaning & restocking the toilets

Hours wise, it is an 06:00am - 13:00pm DAY shift role, which operates on a Tuesday – Saturday rota.

The Company:

The company covers the whole of the North, which includes the North East & West of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, as well as the occasional part of the East Midlands and Staffordshire.

As a result of this, they have a large fleet of trains – 333 to be precise, so it's safe to say you will be active & busy with your role!

Remuneration & Benefits:

This rail company has on offer the following for contract staff:

  • £12p/h
  • Overtime is available at the Manager’s discretion
  • Possibility to go Temp 2 Perm after an initial 6 months

Requirements:

  • Be able to pass a Drugs & Alcohol test
  • Be able to pass a Medical test – includes all senses & physical fitness
  • Be physically fit enough – The Depot is large in its presence, you will probably average 10,000 steps a day
  • Provide your Right to Work documents before deployment
  • Happy to help mentality/attitude
  • Flexibility to work weekends
