Ganymede support local school in opening the door to a career in engineering
At Ganymede, one of our core values is Being Socially Responsible, and this includes using our business expertise to support our local communities and schools.
Chris James, Client Relationship Manager and STEM Ambassador at Ganymede recently ran a careers and employability talk at Bennerley Fields School.
The interactive session included a variety activities for the children, from CV writing support to advice on the many career pathways available within engineering, they were even able to try on some Ganymede PPE!
Chris said: “One of my children has been in SEND education since the age of 4 years old and I have been absolutely astonished by the development this has given him, so I know at first hand the incredible job these schools do.
I believe that all children have the right to know the opportunities that exist in front of them following their school education, no matter what their ability or background.
There is a huge skills shortage in the engineering sector, so we need to find ways to be inclusive as there is an unbelievable amount of talent in the SEND education system. The first step to this is show the students the basics of what is out there!"
Deborah Quinn, Careers Coordinator at Bennerley Fields School said: “Thank you Chris for the great talk that you gave to our pupils, they really enjoyed it. The format was very pupil friendly and gave them the chance to fully engage in the session. They felt able to ask questions throughout and participate in the activities. They especially enjoyed trying on the PPE equipment.”
As part of our ongoing commitment to working with local schools and communities, we look forward to running more of these valuable sessions over the coming months.
