Ganymede host Track Monitoring Appreciation Day to train and upskill Engineers
At Ganymede, we are passionate about investing in our people, ensuring they are empowered, developed and encouraged to learn new skills whenever there is the opportunity. After conversations with clients over recent months, we discovered there was a shortfall between Handback Engineer's undertaking monitoring duties using a cross level (Cant/Gauge) and those using 3D EDM monitoring equipment.
As part of our core value 'People are our Passion', our P-Way Technical team worked collaboratively with Collis Engineering to host a Track Monitoring Appreciation Day to upskill Engineers.
Working collaboratively in a controlled environment
Utilising the test track at Ganymede's head office, The Derby Conference Centre, the day involved setting up a Trimble Total Station as well as back sight targets. For both the Engineers and our clients in attendance, the day provided a deep understanding for how this equipment is used for track monitoring purposes, showing them what goes into the process from start to finish.
Gareth Jackson, P-way Technical Recruitment Consultant said of the event: "It is a massive passion of mine to help develop the next generation of Engineers. With having this controlled environment, it allowed each person to have a go with the equipment and learn off each other. The day was a massive success, with everyone eager to learn and gain more knowledge of how the equipment worked."
Continuing in the success of this event, we are in process of planning a dedicated P-Way Recruitment Day, to ensure our newer internal recruitment team members have the expert knowledge and understanding of what goes into working on track. Externally we are in talks with numerous clients, discussing various training requirements that will upskill and develop Engineers, whilst again taking advantage of the test track at Ganymede's head office.
